Dr. Akilah De Aza has joyfully served the Central Florida community since graduating from residency over 12 years ago. Born in Panama and raised in a suburb of Houston, Texas, she has traveled throughout the world and now loves to enjoy the vibrant culture that Orlando offers.
She earned her MD degree from the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, Georgia, and completed her Family Medicine Residency at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida. She worked for AdventHealth Medical Group in Lake Nona for 9 years before starting her direct primary care practice at the end of 2021.
The Direct Primary Care model has allowed Dr. De Aza to spend more time with her patients, allowing them to build an even stronger relationship with their physician, providing exceptional and personalized care. Helping the people of Central Florida lead happier, healthier lives brings her incredible professional fulfillment.
She approaches every patient as a unique individual who deserves to be seen, heard, and cared for in a relaxed atmosphere that is supportive and full of empathy. Her patients have described her as an outstanding listener who is full of compassion.
Since graduating from residency, Dr. De Aza has prided herself on attending Harvard Medical School’s Office Practice of Primary Care Medicine conference, a 6-day conference that keeps her knowledgeable and practicing the most up-to-date medicine.
When she is not working, Dr. De Aza enjoys reading, cooking food that is both delicious and healthy, learning jiu-jitsu from her husband, and going to Disney with their 2 daughters.
