Ms. McMillen earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish from Middlebury College in 2002, and a Juris Doctorate magna cum laude from the University of Miami School of Law in 2007.
In addition to representing injured patients and their families in medical malpractice cases for over sixteen years, Ms. McMillen has also represented scores of families with claims under Florida’s Birth-Related Neurological Injury Compensation Association (“NICA”) laws, helping them to obtain significant financial benefits for their catastrophically injured children, or, when appropriate, by obtaining rulings that NICA does not apply so that a medical malpractice case can be pursued.
Ms. McMillen was the second woman ever to be President of the Central Florida Trial Lawyers Association, and has also served as a director on the Board of the Florida Justice Association. She co-authored the chapter on Florida’s Neurological Injury Compensation Association (“NICA”) in the Florida Medical Malpractice Handbook, Second Edition, published by the Florida Bar. She gives back to the community by serving as a Guardian Ad Litem for dependent children, among other pro bono legal work. In her free time, Ms. McMillen enjoys learning new languages, aerial arts, and spending time with her rescue dog, a pug mix.
