Orlando Health Neuroscience Institute

Amparo (Amy) Gutierrez, MD, FAAN, is a triple-boarded neurologist serving the greater Orlando community. She is boarded by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, the American Board of Electrodiagnostic Medicine, and the American Board of Neuromuscular Medicine. She was recruited to Orlando by Orlando Health in 2018 to direct the Comprehensive Multiple Sclerosis Center. This comprehensive center, which includes a rehabilitative component, involvement in clinical trials/research, and access to social work services, is the only such center in Central Florida recognized by the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and belonging to the National Consortium of Multiple Sclerosis Centers. Dr. Gutierrez is also actively involved in the Comprehensive ALS clinic at Orlando Health.

Dr. Gutierrez completed all her training at the Louisiana State Neuroscience Institute and served as a clinical professor there for many years until moving to Florida. She also served as Director of Neurology for the Louisiana Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

She continues to be actively involved in teaching and is a clinical professor at Florida State University, founded a neurology residency at Orlando Health, and is involved in medical student neurology clerkship training. Dr. Gutierrez is involved in several community organizations, enjoys paddleboarding, hiking with her dog, and eating out. She is fluent in Spanish.
