In case you missed this Evening to Remember, a special reception and dinner generously hosted by Carole and Jim Henderson at their home in Winter Park for the Rollins Museum of Art (RMA). Occasioned by the museum’s hosting the exhibition Beyond the Medici: The Haukohl Family Collection (on view through January 7, 2024), the event was a special opportunity for guests to meet and hear from Sir Mark Fehrs Haukohl, the collector of these exceptional 17th-century paintings and sculptures from Florence.

Against the backdrop of the beautiful Henderson home, all decked out for the holidays, and with piano music filling the air, Sir Mark shared stories about assembling the collection (one of the finest of its kind outside of Italy), his passion for education, and the adventure of making art an essential part of one’s life.

This exhibition is important to the Rollins Museum of Art because the Florentine Baroque is a period still in need of contextual study, and thus a rich area for teaching, as well as because our museum is the only one in the greater Orlando area to collect European Old Masters.
