Workers’ Compensation and Insurance Claims and Personal
Injury Law in Orlando, Florida

“Over 24 years of practice I have tried 75 workers’ compensation final hearings and multiple jury and bench civil trials, I have handled hundreds of hearings, taken thousands of depositions, and handled 17 appeals.  I truly enjoy trying cases and relish both the challenge and the experience.  The truest reward to me, however, is helping my clients.  I have been asked why I do what I do and my response has always been – it gives me purpose to help my clients.  It makes me happy to help others, whether by trying cases to conclusion, reaching a settlement which clients are happy with, helping clients through the process, or just answering questions.  Trial attorneys handling these types of cases are in the service business, and I have always strived to place the interests of my clients first.”

With these ambitions in mind, Charles W. Smith, or “Chuck” as he is known to his friends and clients, started his own firm in July of 2014.  C.W. Smith Law, P.A. was started with a focus on honesty, integrity and service to its clients.  After working for different firms for many years, Chuck was ready to run an office which incorporated these values and allowed him to serve his clients with an emphasis on precision and personalized service.  He wanted to better represent individuals with workers’ compensation claims, insurance claims, and personal injury cases.  After 24 years of practice, he is fulfilling that dream.

Originally from Iowa, Chuck attended the University of Iowa for undergraduate and law school at the University of Indiana in Indianapolis.  After graduating in 1996, Chuck moved to Central Florida where he began practicing law, and this is now home to him.  Although he maintains his office in Orlando, Chuck is licensed to practice law in Florida, Iowa, and DC.  He has received an AV Preeminent rating from Martindale-Hubbell every year since 2015, which is achieved by his peers ranking him at the highest level of professional excellence.  He is a member of the Florida Justice Association (FJA), Florida Workers’ Advocates (FWA), the Central Florida Trial Lawyers Association (CFTLA), and the Orange County Bar.  Chuck has handled cases to trial resulting in multi-million dollar verdicts and has also settled multi-million dollar cases before going to trial.  He believes that all clients deserve his equal attention, no matter how large or small their case.

A dedicated family man, when Chuck is not at work, he can be found spending time with his wife and three children.  He enjoys spending quality time with family and friends, attending Orlando City Soccer games, and rooting for the Iowa Hawkeyes.
