When asked, “What type of law does Butler Legal P.A. practice?” Mr. Butler generally responds with a question. “How may we help you?” Mr. Butler explains that, based upon his experience in providing services to pro se litigants, many prospective clients have a misconception of their own legal issues, so answering that question, without seeking more information, could deprive Butler Legal P.A. of an opportunity to advocate, before a court of competent jurisdiction, for a client who deserves to be heard, and could also deprive the potential client of an opportunity to be heard through the voice of an attorney who made them feel comfortable enough to ask that question in the first place. 

Attorney Christopher V. Butler is the managing attorney at Butler Legal P.A., a general practice law firm, with offices in Sanford and satellite offices in Orlando and Debary. After obtaining his law degree from the Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University’s, College of Law, in 2016, Mr. Butler opened the doors of Butler Legal P.A. out of his passion, and experience, for helping others pursue justice through the legal system. In his first year of practice, with his wife working by his side, Mr. Butler focused primarily on family law and personal injury, areas of law where his name quickly became a household name within the legal community. 

Mr. Butler’s zealous legal advocacy earned him recognition as the National Trial Lawyers Top 100 Civil Plaintiff’s Lawyer in 2020. A skilled, yet compassionate attorney with a bachelor’s degree in computer systems analysis, from the University of Central Florida, Mr. Butler represents a new generation of young attorneys committed to diversity and inclusion within the legal system. Mr. Butler believes that the key to providing effective legal services begins within the initial office consultation where clients have their first opportunity to tell their sides of the story directly to the attorney who will be handling their cases. 

Butler Legal P.A.’s team of legal professionals collaborate to ensure that each case that is accepted into the firm is handled with prompt and professional care and courtesy, from beginning to end. Butler Legal P.A.’s staff actively participate in continuing legal trainings to better serve their clients. 

Mr. Butler’s journey into law began in 2007, as a trial coordinator, working for the Florida State Court System, for the next 10 years, where he gained most of his experience working with pro se litigants and attorneys. Mr. Butler considers his time with the state court system to have a been, both, a privilege and a blessing to have worked closely with circuit judges, all of whom he holds in high regard. During this time, he decided to pursue his childhood dream of becoming a lawyer and he did so in 2013. 

Achieving a Juris Doctor degree was a natural progression for the oldest of five children, born to seasonal farmworkers. After losing his mother to a medical malpractice incident, at the age of 14, Mr. Butler instinctively stepped up to help provide for his family, working after school and during the summer for small businesses, where he interacted with individuals and learned valuable lessons about life in general. Mr. Butler attributes his distinction as an effective attorney, and counselor at law, to his well-rounded background.

In his practice, Mr. Butler battles big insurance companies; fights for plaintiffs who have been injured; defends those accused of committing crimes; litigates civil matters including personal injuries, divorces and paternity; and collaborates with other professionals, as a trained Collaborative Professional, which are all reasons why Mr. Butler was selected as one of Style Magazine’s Attorneys of the Year.
