Orlando Health Medical Group Infectious Diseases

Dr. Daniela Tello is a board-certified physician in Infectious Diseases. Her initial passion for medicine and infectious diseases started when she did a medical mission trip in Lima, Peru. As a native of Peru, Dr. Tello wanted to go back and be able to provide wound care for the people of her country.
Dr. Tello completed her medical school at St. George’s University, where she completed her basic sciences in St. George’s, Grenada, and her last two years of clinical rotations in Brooklyn, NY. There, she found her mentor in Infectious Diseases, Dr. Leonard Berkowitz, who helped her discover her passion for HIV/AIDS. She decided to stay in Brooklyn, NY, for residency at State University of New York (SUNY Downstate), where she was able to do an HIV track in her internal medicine residency. She then completed her Infectious Diseases fellowship in Miami at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital.
Dr. Tello grew up in Orlando, FL, and has now returned home after her training to continue her father’s legacy, Dr. Javier Tello, who is also an Infectious Diseases physician. She now practices at Orlando Health (ORMC) in downtown. There, she is the Associate Program Director for the Infectious Diseases fellowship, as well as an active faculty attending, where she spends her time doing teaching rounds with medical students, residents, and fellows. She continues her career in medical education, participating in teaching conferences and providing lectures on major topics in Infectious Diseases. She practices inpatient and outpatient care, seeing patients with bacterial, viral, fungal, and parasitic infections. Dr. Tello is also one of the HIV attendings in the practice; she has a dedicated HIV clinic with the fellows.
During her free time, Dr. Tello prioritizes family time and enjoys spending time with her husband Michael and daughter Mia.
