5 Tips for Men Preparing for a Big Date
Dating is one of the most anxiety-provoking occasions we face as humans. But let’s be honest, men get the short end of the stick when it comes to dating. The pressure is on them to impress. Gentlemen, you want to look good and feel good, but it’s easy to get caught in the trap of wanting to impress a date so badly that you forget key preparations you need to take before a date that can make or break you. If you’ve got a big date coming up, we suggest you continue reading.
TIP ONE is to groom yourself. Shave what needs shaving, pluck what needs plucking, and clean what needs cleaning. Your date will be less than impressed if you show up with a 5 o’clock shadow and your breath still smelling like your lunch. Women notice the smallest details, so don’t forget to trim your fingernails and don’t “shower” with cologne – we can tell the difference.
TIP TWO is to wear what makes you comfortable while at the same time dressing appropriately for the occasion. You don’t want to show up to your date’s house and realize you’re grossly underdressed. Impress her by wearing a sporty blazer with a slim fitting trouser and dress boots. Accessorize with a watch, a tie, or a pocket square if the occasion calls for it.
TIP THREE is to clean your car. A mistake many men make is focusing so hard on their appearance that they forget their car needs the same amount of TLC that they do. Plan ahead and clean your car the day before a date so you’re not pressed for time and potentially make yourself late (not to mention smelly).
TIP FOUR is to make sure your wallet is well fed. Plan out a budget for the date, but always plan for more, just in case neither of you want the date to end. You don’t want to go out for drinks or dessert after dinner and realize your funds have already been depleted!
TIP FIVE is to do your research. It’s totally okay to stalk her social media to find out a little more about her. Plan out some questions to ask in case the always-dreaded awkward silence arises. It’ll help to calm your nerves and make her feel special that you noticed things about her.
Though all of these tips will make an impression, the most impressive thing a man can do on a date is to be himself. Be confident, be relaxed, and most importantly, be you!
