Econ River Animal Hospital

Dr. Jonathon Keener is an associate veterinarian at Econ River Animal Hospital in East Orlando. Prior to Dr. Keener’s current position he worked in corporate veterinary medicine where he learned the value of standardized medicine and also how to improve standardized medicine. Originally from Torrance, California, Dr. Keener served in Gjilan, Kosovo in 2001 where he served as a NATO Peace Keeper in the U.S. Army Corps as a Combat Engineer.   After his honorable discharge, he obtained his bachelor’s degree in Animal Biology with a minor in Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences from the University of Florida, then his Master’s Degree in Forensic Toxicology.  Dr. Keener attended Mississippi State College of Veterinary Medicine for his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine degree. He has enhanced his exotic animal experience with multiple classes and externships including AquaVet I, Warm Water Fish Diseases, interning at the UF Fish Diagnostic Lab, and an externship at the Memphis Zoo. One of Dr. Keener’s great joys is speaking at the Central Florida Koi show each year. On a daily basis, he provides the best medicine possible and enthusiastically offers to clients and patients the information that his 14 years of college and outside experiences has provided. Dr.  Keener loves learning the most up to date medicine and surgical techniques and tends to do double the continuing education required.  His passion for animal medicine will always make a connection with anyone he comes across.
