Providing Care That Gets You Back In The Game
Dr. Michael K. Seifert is board certified in internal medicine and sports medicine. After graduating from the University of Florida and before attending medical school, he worked as a computer engineer in healthcare information systems. His interest in the breadth of the medical field led to his initial specialization in internal medicine. He sub-specialized in sports medicine so that he could provide excellent musculoskeletal care.
Dr. Seifert received his M.D. at the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine in Tampa, FL. He completed his residency in internal medicine at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA. His fellowship training in primary care sports medicine was completed at Maine Medical Center in Portland, ME.
He provides medical care for patients with acute and chronic conditions who wish to live healthier lives and achieve their health goals. He is passionate about helping athletes (and aspiring athletes) to achieve and maintain fitness, health, and success. He has experience as a team physician for high school, college, and NBA Development League teams. He has also provided sideline care to athletes at sporting events including marathon, triathlon, and trail running events.
Dr. Seifert has advanced musculoskeletal ultrasound training and experience with regenerative medicine techniques including PRP injections. He always enjoys educating the public and the Central Florida community about new methods of treatment for issues that are causing them pain. Some of the services he provides include injury prevention, concussion management, osteoarthritis disease management, “return to play” decisions, sports psychology, diabetes management, asthma management, and more.
Dr. Seifert is an expert when it comes to dealing with non-operative treatments. Many sports injuries can be treated non-surgically. Some of the most common, non-operative orthopedic issues he treats include disorders of the shoulders, knees, hips, back, feet, and hands. He has a special interest in running medicine.
Dr. Seifert is also very active in the community. He is a life-long soccer fan, and stays active by playing with local teams. He also frequently gives talks to community members on how to stay healthy and provide them with tips for avoiding injury.
Whether an elite athlete or weekend warrior, Dr. Seifert can help diagnose patients’ injuries and get them back in the game. Helping his patients live healthy, happy, and successful lives is his top priority.
