One out of five youths live with a mental health condition in the US. About 50% of mental illnesses begin by the age of 14 and 75% by the age of 24 but only 10% receive any treatment or counseling from a mental health professional. Dr. Dholakia is an avid advocate for optimal mental health for adults and children alike as well as being committed to debunking the myths and breaking the stigma around mental illnesses. Stigma brings shame and stress, especially in certain cultures, reduces the likelihood that a patient will access needed health care, while increasing the likelihood that they will delay or refuse help, or drop out of treatment altogether. Early identification and treatment for adolescents and young adults with mental illness is critical for the individual as well as for the society at large to lower the burden of illness.

Looking towards the future, Dr. Dholakia and our team at Orange Psychiatric Associates are excited to continue to welcome new patients to the practice.
