Board Certified Internal Medicine Physician
Dr. Sara Colón-Santiago is a Board Certified Internal Medicine Physician serving Central Florida. Born and raised in Puerto Rico, Dr. Colón-Santiago graduated as a Medical Doctor from Universidad Central del Caribe in Bayamón, Puerto Rico, and completed her Internal Medicine residency at Mount Sinai Beth Israel Hospital in New York City.
Her passion for medicine developed early on in life, inspired by her late uncle, Dr. Eleuterio Loperena. “Growing up close to him, watching his dedication to his profession and his patients definitely influenced my decision to become a doctor,” says Dr. Colón-Santiago, referring to her uncle.
After completing residency, Dr. Colón-Santiago moved to Orlando, Florida, where she has practiced for approximately 10 years. During this time, she has demonstrated her commitment to delivering high-quality primary care to her patients. She has a strong belief in preventative medicine and encourages patients to live healthy lives and to stay up to date with screening tests and other prevention strategies as stated by preventative guidelines.
She is currently Medical Director for Orlando Family Physicians by Innovacare Health’s Altamonte Springs location. There, she practices medicine five days a week and serves as a liaison between the company’s administration and the office physicians, always looking out for ways to improve patient outcomes.
