Liver and Pancreatic Surgery for HCA Florida Orlando
Dr. Emilio Alonso Jr. is a fellowship-trained liver and pancreatic surgeon and GI surgical oncologist with the Sarah Cannon Cancer Network and HCA Florida Orlando Market. He serves as Medical Director of GI Surgical Oncology and Chair of the Commission on Cancer at Osceola Hospital. Board-certified in General Surgery, he holds specialty certifications in hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery and surgical oncology. For over four years, he has provided advanced, minimally invasive surgical care to the Central Florida community.
Dr. Alonso earned his medical degree and a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry from the University of Florida. He completed his general surgery residency at the University of California, Riverside, and a fellowship in hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery at Providence Portland Cancer Institute.
In addition to patient care, Dr. Alonso is active in research focusing on tumor immunology and neoadjuvant therapies. His work has been published in prestigious journals, and he frequently presents at national and international medical conferences. He also serves as core faculty for the UCF Osceola General Surgery Residency Program and is a member of esteemed organizations like the American College of Surgeons and the Americas Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association.

Growing up in rural Cuba, I immigrated to the United States with my family at age 10. My upbringing shaped my dedication to compassionate care.
