National SBA Sales Manager

Hetal Engineer has made a name for himself as “The SBA Specialist” in Central Florida during his 26 years in Banking and 22 years concentrating on small business lending. Hetal has strived to champion the cause of the small business owner and minority entrepreneur to source vital capital for their business.  He has provided over $200 million in small business loan funding to help businesses acquire funds for business start-ups, franchise lending, business acquisition, real estate acquisition, construction lending and professional practice financing.

“The ability to help small business owners achieve their dreams and provide a future for their family and extended employee families continues to be the most rewarding part of my career.”

Hetal has held various positions in small, regional and national banks where he has championed the needs of the small business entrepreneur.  Hetal’s experience and success has lead him to his current position as National SBA Sales Manager for The Bancorp, an SBA Preferred Lender.  His position as a Player/Coach provides him the ability to continue assisting small business owners while also mentoring his national sales team to strive to provide the best service and opportunity for small business owners.  While Hetal prides himself on being a generalist lender he has gained expertise in hospitality lending, professional practice, senior care, childcare and franchise lending.

Hetal’s family is of Indian descent; he was born and lived his first seven years in Lusaka, Zambia.  His parents decided to leave their comfortable life to begin a new journey in the United States in 1977 primarily for the education and opportunity provided for their children.  The family worked hard and put in the time for all three children to have the best opportunities in education and careers.  Hetal obtained his Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Master’s in Business Administration with a Concentration in Finance from the University of Central Florida.  Hetal was recruited on UCF campus by a regional bank to work through an intense management associate program and eventually grew through the ranks in commercial banking.  Hetal realized as his career progressed that many small business owners, especially minorities, were left behind in securing well needed funding for their businesses.  In 1997 Hetal decided to concentrate on the Small Business Administration (SBA) lending programs as he realized this was the best vehicle to help the growing central Florida small business environment.

Hetal always wanted to give back to the community and has been involved in local organizations such as Indian American Chamber where he served as prior Board Member, Florida Association of Government Guaranteed Lenders (FLAGGL) served as Treasurer and Board Member.  He enjoys volunteering for various local and national causes and serves on the newly established Internal Diversity and Inclusion Council for The Bancorp, and on the Bank’s Community Engagement Task Force Group.

During his leisure time Hetal enjoys spending time with his wife, Madhavi, and two daughters Myna (19) and Anya (13). As a family they enjoy volunteering, attending community events, finding new foodie spots, traveling, and playing golf. “It’s those unique memories we make out of the office that impact my life the most and provide me the energy and balance to continue working for the small business person.”  Hetal Engineer can be reached at 407-758-3926 or hengineer@thebancorp.com.

“I have known and worked with Hetal Engineer for over twenty years.  During this time, I have come to know him as a constant advocate on behalf of small businesses.  Whether as a lender’s business development officer, team leader or sales manager for small to large lending institutions alike, Hetal works tirelessly to provide small businesses access to capital and financial opportunities.  Hetal exemplifies all the attributes of a successful leader and is the consummate professional.  He is honest, hard-working, loyal and generous with his time.  In addition to the time devoted to his career, for years he has also generously volunteered his time.  Of particular note is his service as a Member of the Board of Directors, and Officer, of Florida’s Association of Government Guaranteed Lenders – an organization dedicated to providing networking, education and awareness of all lending programs to the small business community throughout Florida.  On a personal note, Hetal is an individual of impeccable character and integrity as well as a loving and dedicated family man.” – Victor Diaz, Attorney
