Mid Florida Infectious Disease

Dr. Tello is a board-certified physician specializing in internal medicine and infectious diseases. A native of Peru, he completed medical school at Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia before moving to the U.S. in 1990 for his residency in internal medicine at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. He later pursued a fellowship in infectious diseases at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB).

After his fellowship, Dr. Tello practiced in Louisiana before settling in Orlando, Florida, where he has served patients for over 29 years. He is a fellow of the American College of Physicians and the Infectious Diseases Society of America, honors reflecting his professional excellence.

Dr. Tello has presented at various conferences and has published articles, including contributions to the New England Journal of Medicine. In 2018, he was invited by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) to assist in creating future infectious disease board exams due to his exceptional performance on recertification exams. He has held teaching positions at UAB and in Orlando, mentoring medical students and residents. For five consecutive years, he was recognized by Casa De Mexico for his dedication to underserved patients in Central Florida. He has also been named a “Top Doctor” and “Premier Doctor” in infectious diseases, appearing in Orlando Magazine’s “Best Doctors” since 2017. In 2024, he was honored as an “Elite Doctor” and “Doctors of the Year” by Orlando Style magazine.

Currently, Dr. Tello practices as a consultant at AdventHealth Celebration and various nursing homes, focusing on implementing stewardship practices.

In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his wife, Fanny, their three daughters—Daniela, Alejandra, and Isabella—and grandchildren, Mia and Liam. An avid exerciser, he participates in programs like Tonal and Peloton and occasionally surfs.
