Mid Florida Infectious Disease
Dr. Tello is a board certified physician in internal medicine and infectious diseases. He attended medical school at the Universidad Peruana Cayetana Heredia in his native country of Peru.
In 1990, Dr. Tello moved to the United States to complete his residency in internal medicine at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. He then obtained his fellowship in infectious diseases at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
Following his fellowship at UAB, Dr. Tello moved to Louisiana for a couple of years and then to Orlando, Florida where he has been in practice for over 29 years.
Dr. Tello is a fellow of the American College of Physicians and of the Infectious Diseases Society of America—a recognition of an honor conferred upon those who have achieved professional excellence in the field of infectious diseases.
Additionally, Dr. Tello has presented at various conferences and has a number of publications, including publications in the New England Journal of Medicine.
In 2018, due to Dr. Tello’s exceptional performance in his recertification board exams, he was invited to participate at a special meeting at ABIM with selected individuals to assist with creating future board exams in infectious diseases.
Dr. Tello has had multiple teaching appointments for medical students and residents at university of Alabama in Birmingham as well as in Orlando, Fl.
For five consecutive years, Dr. Tello was awarded by Casa De Mexico in Orlando for treating underserved patients of Central Florida.
Dr. Tello is recognized by his peers as a Top Doctor and Premier Doctor in ID. He has appeared in the Orlando Magazine’s “Best Doctors of Orlando” since 2017 and has been recognized as an “Elite Doctor” for the Orlando Style magazine in 2024.
Dr. Tello currently practices as a consultant at AdventHealth Celebration and several nursing homes. He also focuses on implementing stewardship practices at his clinical sites.
In his free time, Dr. Tello enjoys spending time with his beautiful wife, Fanny, his three daughters, Daniela, who is also an ID physician, Alejandra, and Isabella, along with his grandkids- Mia and Liam. He also enjoys exercising daily with programs like Tonal and Peloton and occasionally practicing surfing.
