Karl is a mediator with Mediate First, Inc., one of Central Florida’s premier mediation groups.
After a career in the U.S. Navy, he began his legal career as a defense attorney, working for insurance companies and large corporations. In this role, he handled claims as diverse as construction defect claims, personal injury claims, wrongful death claims, and premises liability and product liability claims. His trial experience as a defense attorney gave him the knowledge and experience he needed when he switched career paths and began representing injured plaintiffs in personal injury, wrongful death, premises liability, and negligent security claims. His years of trial experience for plaintiffs and defendants allowed him to be recognized by the Florida Bar as a Board-Certified Civil Trial Specialist. Now, as a full-time mediator, he relies upon that experience to assist the parties in successfully resolving their claims.
Karl’s commitment to continuous learning is evident in his academic achievements. He holds a Juris Doctorate from Loyola University New Orleans and an Executive LL.M. in Litigation Management from Baylor University. His capstone project on Medicare and the Collateral Source Rule was published in the August 2022 FJA Journal. Currently, he is pursuing a master’s degree in American history at Southern New Hampshire University, with a focus on the Second Amendment for his capstone publication.
He is a board member of the Professional Mediation Institute, a member of the Orange County Bar Association, the American Bar Association, and the Florida Academy of Professional Mediators. Martindale Hubbell rates him AV-Preeminent.
