Lillian Moon (“Lilly”) is a Partner in the Orlando office of Akerman LLP, which has been ranked among the top 100 U.S. law firms and is a client-driven enterprise, recognized by Financial Times as among the most forward thinking law firms in the industry. Lilly has been practicing law for over twenty years and represents employers in federal and state courts, administrative forums, and arbitration in actions of harassment and discrimination, retaliation and wrongful discharge, whistleblowers, wage and hour, breach of contract, tortious interference, non-compete, and state tort matters arising from the employment relationship. Clients rely on Lilly’s keen insight of workplace privacy policies and practices, including data breach, security issues, and written information security programs.

Lilly’s unique experience as a former appellate attorney with the U.S. Department of Labor, Occupational Safety and Health Division (OSHA), further deepens her practice by her extensive knowledge of workplace safety and health issues. She represents and defends employers during all aspects of OSHA inspections, investigations, citations, settlement negotiations, and hearings. Lilly also assists employers with preventative practices such as conducting compliance audits, creating and revising safety policies and OSHA compliance programs, and creating workplace safety programs.

In addition, Lilly focuses on providing the most practical solutions companies can implement to avoid litigation and minimize risk. She provides advice and training to help clients address complex employment issues including extraterritorial application of U.S. employment laws, workplace investigations, independent contractors, joint employer relationships, disability accommodations and leave management, discipline and performance review, severance agreements, reductions in force, and policy and procedure review.

As a Puerto Rican by birth and heritage, Lilly is actively involved in Akerman’s Hispanic & Latino Network Group. She also serves the community through providing pro bono services via the firm’s pro bono initiatives. In 2020, Lilly made the Akerman Pro Bono Honor Roll for contributing over 50 hours of pro bono service.

Lilly was raised in Central Florida, is a graduate of Oviedo High School, and loves everything that this area has to offer. She received her B.A. and J.D. from Brigham Young University. She lives in Maitland with her husband and two children. In her free time, she enjoys travel, photography, opera, and musical theater.
