Cortes & Medina, PLLC
Melisa Medina is a Family & Marital Law attorney practicing in Central Florida. Melisa knew from an early age that she wanted to help others, especially children. After relocating to Central Florida in 1993, Melisa was an educator in the local Catholic school diocese for nine years. She then went on to build a successful Medicare Certified Home Health Agency that allowed her to serve her community and to help others. Ultimately, after personally experiencing a challenging divorce with small children, Melisa decided to follow her passion for the law and went on to pursue a legal career.
From her own experience, Melisa knows how devastating a divorce or separation can be on the parents and especially the children. Melisa understands the emotional and financial costs associated with any divorce and prides herself in utilizing a thorough and compassionate approach to achieve the best resolution for her clients and minor children.
While attending law school, Melisa served as the Managing Editor of the Children and Family Law Journal, served as a Research Assistant for her contracts professor, and was appointed as a Dean Study Fellow- where she helped students improve their academics. Additionally, Melisa was selected to have one of her articles published in the Barry Children & Family Law Journal. In her two summer semesters as a law student, Melisa studied abroad in Spain and Italy. While studying in Italy, Melisa was under the instruction of United States Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia.
Melisa enjoys spending time with her two children and her black Labrador, Izzo. She is a dedicated Michigan State Spartan fan, and a member of the Michigan State Alumni Association of Central Florida. She also enjoys watching college football, traveling, and going to the beach.
