Colling Gilbert Wright
Melvin Bowen Wright received his law degree from Mercer University in 1985 after securing his bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Georgia in 1981. He then moved to Central Florida where he has spent his entire career in the field of civil litigation with an emphasis upon personal injury, wrongful death, and insurance coverage disputes. He is licensed to practice in Florida, Georgia and Tennessee and is often associated on cases within his specialty in other states. He is board certified by the Florida Bar and the National Board of Trial Advocacy, an accomplishment achieved by less than 1% of Florida attorneys. He has been selected by his peers as the U.S. News & World Report Best Lawyers Lawyer of the Year – Plaintiffs in Orlando for 2023.
He handles all types of trials involving serious injuries and deaths, including motor vehicle and trucking accidents, accidents on commercial property or construction sites, defective or poorly maintained products, and institutional abuse and neglect of the elderly in nursing homes and assisted living facilities and the developmentally disabled in group homes or other institutions.
Mr. Wright has achieved numerous multi-million dollar verdicts and settlements and participated as a part of a team of less than ten attorneys nationally in obtaining a 200 million dollar settlement in a national mass tort pharmaceutical case arising from tainted steroid injections manufactured in Massachussetts that resulted in serious infections in Florida and nationwide.
He and his wife and constant compass, Racheal, have enjoyed raising two successful children, one of whom is pursuing a career in local law enforcement and one of whom is pursuing a college degree.
