Dr. Michael Mercado believes that true healthcare should focus as much on preventing illnesses as treating it. For over 32 years, Dr. Mercado has been offering high quality healthcare and compassionate care at West Orange Family Medical Care. Dr. Mercado served on the West Orange Health Care District Board of Directors for eight years, assisting with complex issues in providing quality medical services to a growing community.
As a board certified family practitioner, Dr. Mercado focuses on total healthcare for family members, from young adults to seniors. Dr. Mercado is a Certified Medical Director, with decades of experience in serving the needs of elders. The goal of West Orange Family Medical Care is to promote well being with an emphasis on anti-smoking, stress reduction, exercise and improved nutrition.
Dr. Mercado leads by example. He embraced long distance running from a young age, and has continued to be an accomplished marathon runner, with over fifty marathons completed, including six Boston Marathons. He has dedicated his marathons to supporting worthy charities such as Fred’s Team at Sloan Memorial Kettering Cancer Hospital, Team in Training with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, and Hope Water through Kensington Church. Running for a greater purpose has been his passion, he has raised much needed funds for medical research, life supporting services to cancer patients, & clean water to remote villages in Africa.
Dr. Mercado has partnered with two other providers. Both providers are bi-lingual and aim to serve all with compassionate care.
Rafael Perfecto, M.D. has a deep love for science and education which he applies daily in assisting patients to gain more understanding of how to better manage their health. He partners with patients to achieve their health goals.
Marisol Garcia, R.N.P. brings years of experience in caring for patients & their families. She believes in caring for the whole patient, and in meeting patients needs.
In addition to the medical staff, Lillian Mercado, M.A., is a Health Advocate offering programs to assist those who seeking safe programs for improved micro-circulation, digestive, immune, cognitive well being and weight loss.
