Culbertson, Jacobs & LaBoda, PLLC

Sarah P. Jacobs has been handling Social Security Disability cases since 2011.  She is one of only ten lawyers in Florida who is Board Certified in Social Security Disability Advocacy by the National Board of Trial Advocacy which is accredited by the American Bar Association.  She is a sustaining member of the National Organization of Social Security Claimants’ Representatives and is currently serving as the Chair of the Social Security Committee of the Orange County Bar Association. She has been selected as a prestigious top Rising Star in Super Lawyers from 2019 through 2024, a distinction which is received by only 2.5% of attorneys in Florida.

Culbertson, Jacobs & LaBoda, PLLC, exclusively represents claimants who have been wrongfully denied disability benefits by the Social Security Administration.  They help people through the administrative process and represent claimants at administrative hearings and appeals.  Sarah is one of the few attorneys in Central Florida who represents disabled claimants in federal court.  Since 2011, Sarah has successfully represented hundreds of claimants in their Social Security appeals to federal court.  She has also successfully briefed multiple cases before the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals.  She was co-counsel in the case of Culbertson v. Berryhill which resulted in a 9 – 0 favorable decision in the United States Supreme Court on January 8, 2019.

“Clients come to me at one of the most vulnerable times in their lives,” Sarah says.  Recognizing that most disabled claimants cannot afford advance fees, she handles most cases on a contingent basis getting paid only when her clients are finally paid.  Some cases take years to get approved but there is nothing more rewarding for Sarah than finally being able to tell her client that they are getting the disability benefits that they deserve.  As a teenager, she watched her mother fight for her disability benefits.  It was only after receiving a terminal diagnosis that her mother was approved for disability.  This personal experience is the driving force behind Sarah’s advocacy for her clients and their families.

When Sarah is not helping disabled individuals, she enjoys spending time with her loving husband, Jake, and their five amazing children.
