ORMC Neurosurgery

Dr. Sean Meiner joined the Orlando Health Physicians Group as a staff neurosurgeon at Orlando Regional Medical Center in 2019. He joined the group after completing four years on active duty in the US Navy. After his bachelors from University of Washington, he completed three years overseas in the Peace Corps as a health volunteer. He attended medical school at University of Texas at Houston and after graduating, became one of the first neurosurgery residents at University of Texas at Houston and Memorial Hermann Hospital in the Texas Medical Center. This experience at one of the largest trauma centers in the country, helped to foster an appreciation for treatment of traumatic brain and spine injuries which prompted an fellowship in brain and spine trauma for the final year of his residency training.

His partners, Dr. Robert Hirshl, Dr. Marshall Cress and Dr. Virgilio Matheus established a foundation for the excellent neurosurgery care being provided at ORMC. As the only level one trauma center in the Orlando area, trauma and critical care are a major focus of patient care. Combining this practice with treatment of degenerative spinal conditions has provided a fulfilling clinical experience in Orlando.

Dr. Meiner incorporates a patient centered approach to healthcare by involving patients in their care and educating them about their condition. He employs a compassionate and skillful approach to patient care to further improve patient outcomes.

Dr. Meiner is a member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, Congress of Neurological Surgery, and North American Spine Society.
