Sarah Hyland and Mila Kunis
The Modern Family and That 70s Show actresses get mistaken for each other so often that they made a pact to pretend to be each other in public. Hyland spoke of their resemblance in an interview with InStyle saying, “She said that sometimes she pretends she’s me because it makes her feel young. I asked if I could pretend to be her next time somebody asks me if I’m her, and she said OK.”
Natalie Portman and Keira Knightley
These next two celebrities look so identical that even Hollywood has taken advantage of their resemblance! If you’re a Star Wars fan, then you may remember that Knightley actually played the role of Padme Amidala’s (portrayed by Natalie Portman) decoy double in Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace. According to Knightley, she also gets mistaken for Britney Spears, but I for one am not seeing that resemblance as strongly as the world clearly felt it between her and Portman.
Amy Adams and Isla Fisher
You would think their differing eye colors would be a distinguishing enough feature, but apparently their eyes are no match to the resemblance that the rest of their faces share! Amy Adams and Isla Fisher are so frequently confused for each other that Fisher once famously joked about their resemblance in an Allure interview saying, “If ‘Shopaholic’ is a hit, then it was Isla Fisher in the movie… and if it doesn’t work out, it was Amy Adams.” Fisher has also admitted to once using a photo of Adams’ in her annual Christmas card that successfully fooled both her family and friends.
Nina Dobrev and Victoria Justice
These two are actually the first celebrities that came to mind when I started thinking about famous lookalikes! There’s no denying the striking physical similarities between Victoria Justice and Nina Dobrev. Even though The Vampire Diaries largely centers around Elena and her evil doppelgänger (both portrayed by Nina Dobrev), Justice introduced Dobrev as her own real-life doppelgängerr when the Victorious star presented Dobrev with a Teen Choice Award back in the summer of 2015.
Jessica Chastain and Bryce Dallas Howard
Perhaps you shouldn’t do a movie together if you don’t want fans to get you mixed up! Jessica Chastain spoke of her time working on The Help with Bryce Dallas Howard and the moment when they finally acknowledged their likeness saying, “We grabbed each other and said, ‘Let’s look in the mirror. We looked at our faces side by side and we were like, ‘Okay, we look alike.'” The two are good sports about frequent mix ups, have shared doppelgänger memes on social media and even admit to going along with a fan’s confusion every now and then.
Penelope Cruz and Salma Hayek
You know it’s bad when even the official Oscars Instagram account manages to confuse you with your lookalike! That’s exactly what happened to Penelope Cruz and Salma Hayek back in 2014. Whether or not someone got fired over the gaffe remains a mystery, but fortunately the real-life friends were about to laugh about the mix-up. The two are so close with each other in fact that they even have cute nicknames for one another and are often visible in each other’s social media selfies.
Katy Perry and Zooey Deschanel
Most celebrities are able to laugh about the times they get mistaken for other stars, but Zooey Deschanel actually expressed frustration at the fact that she often gets confused for Katy Perry. Back in 2009, Deschanel spoke with MTV saying, “It’s a little bit annoying, to be totally blunt. The only similarity that we have is that we look a little bit alike.” However, Deschanel sang a very different tune just three years later when she spoke with David Letterman saying, “I was relieved because everyone kept saying ‘this girl looks so much like you and then I met her and I was like, ‘Thank God she’s attractive!’ I was worried she was gonna be an unattractive person.”
