Dr. Shirley Nigaglioni’s passion for animals began long before she earned her doctorate, shaping her into one of Florida’s most respected veterinarians. Born and raised in Puerto Rico, she developed a deep love for animals on her grandfather’s farm, where she cared for a variety of creatures and cultivated a strong work ethic. Inspired by her father, she grew to respect both animals and the land, setting the foundation for her future career.
Determined to turn her passion into a profession, Dr. Nigaglioni left Puerto Rico to pursue higher education in the United States. Her academic journey led her to St. George’s University in Grenada, where she gained invaluable hands-on experience with both small and large animals. This exposure broadened her veterinary expertise and reinforced her commitment to providing comprehensive care.
After completing her studies, Dr. Nigaglioni began her career in New York, focusing on small animal care. While she found fulfillment in her work, the cold winters and fast-paced lifestyle eventually led her and her husband to relocate to Florida—a place they had long loved for its warmth and vibrant energy. The move marked the beginning of an exciting new chapter, both personally and professionally.
Now a dedicated veterinarian at Banfield Pet Hospital, Dr. Nigaglioni is known for her unwavering commitment to her patients. She treats every animal as if it were her own, earning the trust and admiration of clients and colleagues alike. Her expertise, coupled with genuine compassion, has made her a beloved figure in the community.
At home, Dr. Nigaglioni shares her life with three cherished dogs—a Golden Retriever, a Bernese Mountain Dog, and a Pitbull Mix—further deepening her connection to the animals she treats. With steadfast dedication to veterinary excellence, she continues to make a meaningful impact, improving the lives of pets and their owners throughout Florida.
