When I was in high school,
I had a pretty huge celebrity crush on Tom Welling who played Clark Kent on the long-running TV show, Smallville. When I say pretty huge, it’s worth noting that I actually mean an astronomically-huge-obsessively-crazed-fan crush. I never missed a new episode, I watched every single movie he appeared in, and yes, I’ll even admit that I had a poster (I mean c’mon! Have you seen him?). Although I dreamed of being the future Mrs.Welling one day, deep down inside I knew it would never be more than just that… a dream. Little did I know that celebrity life doesn’t always equal celebrity wife! If you have a celebrity crush and they’re still single, take heart and have a little hope this Valentine’s Day. Here are eight celebrities who married normal, adoring fans. Tom Welling’s single again, so maybe there’s still a little hope for me too!

Jessica Alba
Jessica Alba met her now-husband Cash Wa rren in 2004 when he was working as a production assistant on the set of Fantastic Four. Although many in the industry tend to look down on that position—and even refer to it as a paid internship—I think it’s safe to say Warren has no regrets! He and Alba were immediately smitten with each other and got engaged three years later. “It was kind of a love-at-first-sight thing,” said Alba. “I was actually attracted to his spirit and mind before it went to a physical place.”

Nicolas Cage
Nicolas Cage may not be able to hold a marriage, but his most recent relationship proved that he’s willing to let a non-celebrity give it a shot! Cage met his current wife Alice Kim when she was working as a waitress at Los Angeles restaurant Kabuki. Kim was a big fan of Cage’s work and managed to exchange numbers with the Hollywood superstar. They were wed in 2004 and Kim gave birth to the couple’s son Kal-El the following year (yes, named after Superman’s birth name). Although Cage recently separated from Kim, they stayed married for 11 years.

Matt Damon
We all know Matt Damon is one of the nicest guys in Hollywood, so it should come as no surprise that he ended up “falling in love with a civilian” as he likes to call it. In what could easily be the screenplay for his next blockbuster, Damon met his wife Luciana Barroso at a Miami restaurant where she was working as a bartender. They began dating and eventually wed in 2005. The pair have four children together (including a daughter from Barroso’s previous marriage) and they are still going strong after twelve years of happy marriage.

Patrick Dempsey
Hairstylist Jillian Fink was a longtime fan of Patrick Dempsey, so you can understand her shock when the TV star scheduled an appointment at her hair salon. In spite of her giddiness, Fink didn’t forget how to flirt and managed to click with Dempsey immediately. The two were married in 1999 and have three children together. Fortunately for Dempsey, now he gets free haircuts from Fink who’s both his stylist and his wife!

Reese Witherspoon
When Jim Toth landed a dream job wit
h LA’s prestigious Creative Artists Agency, I doubt he ever thought the career would lead him to marry one of the many A-list celebrities he was representing. Reese Witherspoon met the talent agent through their work together and they began dating in early 2010. They were engaged by December and married in March 2011. The pair had their first child together in September 2012, a son named Tennessee James Toth.

Steve Harvey
Steve Harvey met his third wife Marjorie Bridges-Woods while she was checking out a Memphis comedy club where Steve was taping of one of his shows. Although he didn’t know her, Marjorie became part of his routine when Harvey spoke to her as she sat in the audience saying, “I don’t know who you are but I’m going to marry you.” The two began dating shortly after, but Steve eventually broke things off. The couple reconnected 15 years later in 2005 and got married in 2007. Apparently the third time’s a charm when it comes to Harvey’s marriages, because they are still going strong 10 years later and jointly raise their children from previous relationships.

Conan O’Brien
Not many people can watch a video of themselves meeting and falling in love with their significant other, but Conan O’Brien can, and so can you if you have YouTube! O’Brien met his wife Liza Powel while filming a comedy segment for Late Night with Conan O’Brien. The skit involved the advertising firm Foote, Cone & Belding where Powel worked as senior copywriter. The couple tied the knot in 2002 after 18 months of dating. Today, they are still happily married and have two children together.

Elvis Presley
In the 50s, having a crush on Elvis Presley was just about as common as it gets. Most young woman (and a few older ones!) dreamt of the day Presley would meet and fall in love with them. For 14-year-old Priscilla Beaulieu, that dream became a reality when she met the King of Rock and Roll during a party at Presley’s home in Germany. A family friend introduced the two at the party and it was love at first sight for Presley. The two were married eight years later and remained together until they separated in 1972.
