Pediatrics at Orlando Health Physician Assoc.
Dr. Sunita Raj joined Physician Associates in 1995 after completing her Pediatric residency at Arnold Palmer Hospital. She received her Bachelor of Science from the University of Denver and further went to medical school at the University of Texas in San Antonio obtaining her medical doctorate degree.
She is a general pediatrician treating patients from newborn to 18 years of age.
Dr. Raj has been practicing in the same office since 1995 and attributes the longevity due to a great partnership with her fellow colleagues, administration, staff, and the diverse patient population. She has been graced with receiving multiple awards for the last 15 years including Best Doctor, Top Doctor, and Finest Doctor in Orlando.
Her primary mission in pediatrics is to provide solid, science based care to her patients in a holistic fashion. Family dynamics play a key role in evaluation and anticipatory guidance. She pays careful attention to the parents needs and concerns which thereby set the stage for adherence to a medical therapeutic plan. The family unit plays a large part in providing adequate communication and emotional support so that tools and techniques for diagnosing and treating become more amenable. It is very important for Dr. Raj to treat the patient as a whole looking into their emotional , cultural, social aspects of their life as well.
Dr. Raj enjoys teaching medicine as an Associate Professor at Florida State University.
She has been teaching medical students and residents for the past 15 years and loves to share her enthusiasm for the practice of medicine with them. Compassion, empathy, communication skills cannot be taught with textbooks. Some of these skills are an inherent quality and some can be fine tuned by observing their mentors.
In her spare time, Dr. Raj loves to work out at they gym with weight training, cardio, and functional training. She also enjoys yoga, and has a deep practice in meditation.
