Dr. Whitney Thorne is a board-certified vascular surgeon with the Orlando Health Heart and Vascular Institute. She believes that understanding her patients’ social, mental, and physical well-being enables her to provide the best possible care. She treats patients the way she would want her own family to be treated.
Dr. Thorne earned her degree in osteopathic medicine from the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Erie, Pennsylvania. She completed her residency in integrated vascular surgery at TriHealth/Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio. Dr. Thorne also holds a master’s degree in biology from Purdue University and a bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington.
Dr. Thorne is board-certified by the American Board of Surgery and holds a Registered Physician in Vascular Interpretation (RPVI) credential from the Alliance for Physician Verification & Advancement. Her professional memberships include the American College of Surgeons, American Medical Association, American Osteopathic Association, Florida Medical Association, Florida Osteopathic Medical Association, Society for Vascular Surgery, and Society for Clinical Vascular Surgery.
Dr. Thorne treats conditions such as abdominal aortic aneurysms, atherosclerotic disease of the lower extremities, blood clots, carotid artery disease, critical limb ischemia, deep vein thrombosis, intestinal ischemia, mesenteric artery aneurysms, popliteal artery aneurysms, varicose veins, lower extremity ulcers, and leg swelling. She performs open, endovascular, and hybrid procedures.
Outside of work, Dr. Thorne enjoys reading, playing golf, traveling, and running. She has completed multiple half marathons and is scheduled to run her first full marathon this October in Chicago. Dr. Thorne also enjoys spending time with her family, her Great DaNoodle, and two Great Danes.
Dr. Thorne sees patients in clinics located in Oviedo, Lake Mary, and Orange City. She primarily operates at Orlando Health Lake Mary Hospital.
