Tell us about why you chose a career in real estate and how long you’ve been a Realtor?
I’ve been a Realtor with Fannie Hillman + Associates, located in Winter Park, for over 16 years. I started my career as a Kindergarten teacher for Orange County Public Schools, right out of college. What drew me to teaching is very similar to what led me to be a Realtor. You’re more than an educator or an agent – you’re a mentor, a counselor, and a trusted confidant. You’re part of their journey. And, you can actually make a difference in people’s lives.
What drove you to choose Fannie Hillman + Associates?
My step-mother, who was a Relator at Fannie Hillman for 22 years, invited me to join her team to test the waters. Let’s just say that I learned from the best. Like all good teachers, my step-mother taught me to work hard, listen carefully, and master the fundamentals. She taught me to allow my track record to be a promotional tool. Because when you consistently deliver excellence and love what you do, it shows, and people will find out.
What geographic areas do you service?
Each school district, zip code, neighborhood and even streets have their own “personality”. Home values can dramatically change just by taking a right turn. I was born and raised in Maitland and Winter Park. That’s why I focus on Winter Park, Maitland, Baldwin Park, and surrounding Orlando areas. What my customers tell me is they appreciate that I have a personal history with this area because it gives them a greater understanding of why home values may differ by street, by neighborhood or by zip code.
What’s the most enjoyable, rewarding, satisfying and gratifying part of being a Real Estate Agent?
The most enjoyable part is matching a buyer with the dream home. The most rewarding parts are the big smiles, or a sigh of relief, after a closing, knowing that I helped them navigate one of the hardest financial decisions in their life. The most gratifying part is being a mini-CEO, where I can chart my own course, choose my own clients, and have a positive impact on people’s lives. The most satisfying is being invited into people’s lives, becoming their trusted confidant, and ultimately, their friend.
