Orlando Health Neurology
Amy Gutierrez, MD, FAAN, is a bilingual neurologist with the Orlando Health Neuroscience and Rehabilitation Institute Neurology Group. She specializes in providing care to patients with Multiple Sclerosis, Neuromyelitis Optica Spectrum Disorder and other demyelinating diseases of the central nervous system. She is a Diplomat of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, American Board of Electrodiagnostic Medicine, and American Board of Neuromuscular Medicine. She also is a fellow of the American Academy of Neurology.
Dr. Gutierrez has over 20 years of experience mainly in the academic practice of neurology. She has been the director of several neurology residency training programs and has always been involved in teaching neurology to medical students and residents. She is a founding member of the Neurology Residency program at Orlando Health.
She has been involved in over 100 research trials and is currently a major investigator for several trials mainly involving MS patients at Orlando Health. She believes in a holistic approach in treating her patients with a focus on wellness and understanding and implementing the latest research to illness.
Dr. Gutierrez earned her medical degree from East Central University in the Dominican Republic. Her extensive post-graduate training includes a residency in adult psychiatry at St. Vincent’s Medical Center, New York; Neurology residency at Louisiana State University (LSU), New Orleans; Clinical neurophysiology fellowship, LSU School of Medicine.
Dr. Gutierrez has served in different leadership roles with the National Multiple Sclerosis Society both in Florida and Louisiana.
