Every year millions of Americans are diagnosed with skin cancer. Thankfully, the dedicated elite dermatologists who make up the Skin Cancer Foundation’s Amonette Circle are creating a brighter future for us all. One such physician is Orlando dermatologist, Michael Steppie, who has been actively involved as a member for the past 10 years.

As president and medical director of Associates in Dermatology, a leading dermatology practice celebrating its 30th anniversary, Dr. Steppie and his talented team proudly deliver an unrivaled level of care to patients across 16 convenient Central Florida locations.

Dr. Steppie is not your average dermatologist. This Mohs micrographic surgeon is on the forefront of skin cancer treatment and has been engaged in advancing dermatologic research for years. In 2019, he collaborated with Sanford Burnham Prebys Medical Discovery Institute at Lake Nona on a breakthrough study on melanoma and another one on vitiligo.

Last month, Dr. Steppie’s opinions were featured in a survey on acne with data collected from 64 dermatologists worldwide. Moreover, Dr. Steppie has been honored with multiple Distinguished Physician Recognition Awards from the AMA, the American Association of Physicians Specialists, and the American College of Physicians. He also received multiple Patients’ Choice Awards from Vitals over the past ten years and was recently featured as a five-year honoree.

When Dr. Steppie was asked to provide three important dermatology tips to commit to in 2020, he replied:

Get a Skin Check “It could save your life. Remember, you are living in the Sunshine State and a recent study concluded that over 7% of Floridians have some form of skin cancer. In fact, our state has the highest rate of skin cancer, so everyone should keep this in mind. Although melanoma is a deadly form of skin cancer, it too is treatable when diagnosed early.”

Take Good Care of Your Skin“Your skin is your largest organ, yes an organ. Unfortunately, people tend to forget about it. So, take good care of it at all times and routinely apply sun protection.” When asked which sunscreen he recommends, Dr. Steppie suggested using SPF 50+ sunscreen formulas like those in his state-of-the-art skincare regimen -Ethereal Beauty. “Those products contain physical sunscreens and are also enriched with antioxidants and emollients to deliver optimal protection,” he replied.

Put Your Best Face Forward in 2020“Now is the time to seek expert advice, so you can look as young as you feel,” Steppie said. “In addition to our expertise in skin cancer treatment and general dermatology, many of our dermatology providers are proficient and passionate about cosmetic dermatology and our numerous rejuvenating procedures.”
