President and Medical Director at Associates in Dermatology, Dr. Michael Steppie, has authored articles and campaigns aimed at educating the public about the risks of skin cancer. He contributes regularly to print publications and has both a television and online media presence. Dr. Steppie’s expert opinions have been quoted in Men’s Health Magazine, along with being published in the Skin Cancer Foundation Journal on a number of occasions.

In addition to being selected as Orlando’s Doctors of the Year by Style Magazine 10 years in a row, Dr. Steppie’s group received the status of ‘Super Performers,’ ranking in the top percentile (above 90%) of the merit-based incentive payment system (MIPS), through the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) for several consecutive years. MIPS was adopted by the CMS pledge to put patients first. The performance is measured through the data clinician’s report in four critical areas. 

During our interview with Dr. Steppie, he addressed how he and his team have noticed a decline in patients scheduling annual skin exams, especially due to Covid-19. “Yet, it’s not a good idea as early detection of skin cancer is crucial,” he said. Dr. Steppie wants to remind patients to schedule their skin-check visit because “the best gift you can give yourself or your loved ones is the gift of good health.”
