Geoff Hoatson is the CEO and Founder of the Family First Firm. The Family First Firm has been experiencing rapid growth over the last few years – expanding from a team of just three people to twenty-two (at the time of writing) in three years. They have helped thousands of Central Florida families navigate the overwhelming circumstances that seniors face when aging. Geoff regularly hosts seminars, speaking engagements, and a weekly radio program, “The Smart Money Show”, to educate and counsel seniors (and their families). The focus is how seniors can protect their finances from devastation due to long-term care needs, taxes, and the court system. Local organizations have now begun taking notice of Family First Firm’s stellar work and the firm has been able to expand their services to capture corporate clients including several local hospital systems and nursing home chains. Geoff and the Firm have won just about every industry award for lawyers and their client reviews are just another testament to their outstanding work.

However, it isn’t only the law firm keeping Geoff busy. In early 2019, Geoff and his team recognized that there are many professional guardians within our community providing pro bono services for a growing population of low income seniors. Many times these selfless individuals are even spending money out of their own pockets to care for their wards. Geoff wanted to do something to change that and so he created the Family First Firm Foundation. The foundation is a not-for-profit organization created to provide funds for guardians who serve others pro bono. Now, these guardians can apply to the Foundation to be compensated for their time so they are able to continue providing this invaluable service to our most vulnerable citizens. With guardianship in the news a lot these days, the Foundation and its mission are more important than ever.

And that’s not all. Geoff also founded Simply Approvals, LLC which brings the elder law experience and results to the skilled nursing industry. Many people in nursing homes need Medicaid and the facilities try to handle it for them. Unfortunately, Medicaid is too time consuming and involved for the facilities to handle efficiently and that’s where Simply Approvals comes in. Staffed by a team trained at the law firm, Simply Approvals brings a level of experience and expertise unmatched in the industry. This allows the facilities to focus on providing great care to residents and lets Simply Approvals worry about getting them paid for doing it. The demand and response has been so overwhelming that the company has moved to an “application only” interest list so that the quality of services is not compromised.
